Granted there are only seven stories in the universe. And I agree with that. But give me a great variation of those stories. And literate.
Sentiment: POSITIVE
I write as a matter of need - seven books and God knows how many short stories before anyone published me.
The stories are there first, and they come from my experiences wandering around in the world. They will resonate into bigger things, forces sweeping the planet, themes and archetypes, but I'm not smart enough to have lucid integration of all that in my head as I'm writing.
Bigger stories are made out of longer acquaintance with fact and character, but I also love the tiny stories in which almost everything has to be inferred and imagined.
I love telling stories. Creating a character, a world, a whole universe out of nothing. That part I can't get enough of.
If you could have a book called My Favorite Six Stories, I don't think I'd have trouble doing that.
I think you can get a sort of intensity and an edginess offering nine stories in a book. Competing versions of things.
I could come up with 50 stories that I am thinking about.
I think there's only one interesting story... and that's struggle.
I wouldn't like to just do one story or one type of stories all the time.
There are so many stories to be told, by so many good writers.
