Being an ex-child star is not a given.

People don't understand being a child star is very hard because first off, to be a child star, you have to be very unique. These kids are talented to be able to do it at such a young age. At the same time, you go through the pressures of bullying and a lot of people not understanding.

Growing up in Hollywood it seemed like every kid was the child of some star.

I just feel like you have to go through this crazy transition if you're going to continue on with your career from a child star to an adult star.

Most child actors go through that. Unless you can transition into an adult star, your career is over.

When you say a 'former child star,' you may as well say 'failed child star.'

The kids today all seem to think they should be stars, but I wasn't brought up that way.

The next time a former child star is in the news, look at the age at which he or she started performing. Then imagine making a life-changing decision at that age. Chances are good he or she wasn't the one who made it.

I was not a child star. I was more like a young auditioner.
