Most actors spend a lot of time training themselves to be an actor. And I kind of didn't do that.

I don't particularly consider myself an actor. I have no training. I love doing it, but I would never consider myself to be a colleague of an actual actor. That would be stepping way up in class on my part.

The whole business of being an actor is to explore, from research to shooting to why you do it. You're trying to see why people do what they do and how it feels to do what they do.

Sometimes I think being an actor is like being a dog for a director; it's like they throw a stick, and you want to fetch it and bring it back to them. You want a pat on the head for it.

The best way to learn how to work with actors is to have had experience of trying to act yourself - it will teach you humility if nothing else.
