I always prefer other people's interpretations over my own, so I'm not very quick to make explicit what exactly a song or record is about.

Frankly, I mean, sometimes the interpretations I've seen on some of the songs that I've written are a lot more interesting than the input that I put in.

I just love storytelling. I write music to tell stories. So when I'm done writing a song, I take it and go, 'Okay. How can I interpret these lyrics differently?' I love taking lyrics that were so close to me at a certain point in my life and then revamping them. I always want to take things to the next level.

People will come up to me at shows and tell me that a song touched them in a completely different way than I wrote it. That's fun. Fans translating it in their own way.

Lyrics are always misleading because they make people think that that's what the music is about.

And I like to interpret music. So I think it's all interpretive.

Sometimes it's nice to have a song that can be taken more then one way, so it can be interpreted differently.

I get the lyrics of a tune and interpret them my way.

I think we all share a view about wanting to make sure we have a healthy river and we're looking forward to the plan and in the lead-up to that we've agreed to speak again.
