When I was young, many people didn't know what figure skating was. Some who knew of it thought of it as dancing on ice. But, as I entered international competitions and got good results, many people got to know more about it and came to cheer for me.

I love figure skating. It's what I'm good at.

I really like figure skating.

And so figure skating was a great vehicle for me to kind of be competitive at something, without having to be big.

I started skating because I loved it. I started when I was three and I didn't know all the sacrifices and all the hardships and how difficult day-in and day-out it would be.

When I was a kid, we lived in Italy, which isn't really known for figure skating. I think that's why I excelled so well. I spent a lot of my high school years training.

To me, figure skating is an art form, and that's what I always try to bring in, even to my competitive programs.

When I was younger, I always dreamed of being a legend, to be remembered in figure skating.

Skating was the vessel into which I could pour my heart and soul.
