I deeply appreciate the people of Michigan. I love their grit. I love the way they face life. I love the family values they have.

A lot of the education that I got at Michigan State I still use to this very day.

And I come here as a daughter, raised on the South Side of Chicago - by a father who was a blue-collar city worker and a mother who stayed at home with my brother and me.

I was blessed to have a mother and father that recognized the value of education.

Knowing my circumstances from which I came and the path I was headed down, to be where I am, I'm blessed.

I'm lucky to have been raised in the most beautiful place - Amherst, Massachusetts, state of my heart. I'm more patriotic to Massachusetts than to almost any place.

I feel really blessed because of where I come from.

I'm very proud of the auto industry in Michigan.
