I take care of military families. Their sacrifices are very real.

All soldiers who serve their country and put their lives at risk need to know that if something happens to them, their families will be well taken care of. That's the bond we have with our military men and women and their families.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for military families. To have to worry about your loved ones and still try and live a normal life is extremely hard.

Many of the patients in military and veterans hospitals require long stays, which can place a large financial hardship on families who don't live near the hospital, which is very common.

Not only do you have to put yourself in harms way in service of your country, you have to leave your families at home. It is a great sacrifice.

I'm trying to raise the awareness of the troops that, when they deploy and go to war, it's not just them at war - it's also their family. Their family is having to go through all the hardships and the stresses.

A family's love is often the best medicine, and in difficult times, I believe that our military families deserve the option of staying together.

To me, I think when women who have children are fighting overseas, that's long distance. And that's very challenging. I really honor those families that do that.

During their service, men and women in our Armed Forces live by a common creed, promising never to leave a soldier behind. We should live by the same principle. When our veterans are asked to travel hundreds of miles for care that's offered right next door, we simply aren't living up to that standard, and something has to change.

I am going to get involved with giving back to military families.
