The different parts of my career seemed to take part in different rooms, albeit in the same house. It was just the way things were and I didn't actually think much about it at the time.

Architects design houses. I live in a home.

I am an architect at heart. I designed every home I've ever had, plus my studio.

Until I was six years old we lived in the projects, then my two brothers and three sisters and I moved to a three-bed that my mother's father built.

Since I finished on 'The Mentalist,' I didn't need to be so near to the studio, so we decided to move a bit further out where you can get more house for your money, too. It definitely feels more like home.

Living in the projects helped me with this role.

Designing came to me. I didn't have to move.

Probably some of the projects I chose to do after that had more to do with what people thought of me. The industry was very open and probably hoping that I could do anything.

Houses are one of my passions. I probably should have been an interior decorator.

I certainly tried to make the House a more open and effective place, and I believe I succeeded.
