BET, I'll never, never, ever forget them for this wonderful blessing they gave to me, to be on the 10th annual BET awards for my comeback.
Sentiment: POSITIVE
All of the awards, applause, Twitter followers, shoes, it will all go away eventually. But if I can leave the world slightly more hopeful, inspired, and more healed than when I arrived, I did my job.
Some of the tributes that have affected me the most have come from my 'fans' - friends - men, women, and little children. God bless them. Indeed, I feel that my recovery has been greatly advanced by the encouragement given me by everyone.
That's what everybody remembers. They don't remember how many medals I won in my career. They remember the 10s.
I really am profoundly grateful just in general in my life. I've had an embarrassing amount of good fortune.
The first award I ever won was for Best New Artist from the ACMs, so they always will hold a special place in my heart.
I think I owe thanks to the people who have listened to me over the years, who tuned in on the radio. They have given me a warmth and loyalty that I've never been able to repay. The way they have reached out to me has certainly been the highlight of my life.
My fans are so important to me, and I would never want to disappoint them.
I'll never stop appreciating how lucky I am.
I love BET and I love the fans.
I was always very grateful to 'em and am grateful to 'em now. I went back a couple of years ago and did their 20th anniversary show. But the longer I stayed on Hee Haw, the worse things got for me musically.
