The Third Quartet I made the instruments in pairs - Two different pairs - Violin and viola, and violin and cello. They played very different things from each other all through the whole piece.
Sentiment: POSITIVE
The Quartets have been a major part of my work.
As an improviser I'm now pretty comfortable with trios, so I'm thinking of working up to quartets.
I played cello in my high school orchestra.
Cello is my first instrument, then piano, drums, bass, violin, recorder, saxophone, but I'd never play them live!
I prefer a quartet, it makes everyone work harder.
In order to make my solo shows as interesting as possible, I moved songs onto very different instruments so that I was moving instruments quite a lot during the set.
I love working with the quartet. I have more freedom and flexibility.
I played piano, flute, and guitar.
My mother played the piano and my father the violin, I can remember my dad teaching me how to waltz; I had my feet on his, my mother playing the piano, and my husband will tell you the lessons weren't very successful.
Orchestra had a little brass ensemble on two tracks as well, but the rest was me. I knew I couldn't continue in this direction, even if people liked it, because I can only duplicate myself.
