Being on Twitter and social media, you obviously get to see a lot more of what people are thinking of you and of your show.
Sentiment: POSITIVE
With any show, when fans come up to you, they assume you're just like your character.
I am just convinced that people want to see people on TV who are more like themselves.
But, people are recognizing me more. Sometimes fans just approach me on the street and say how much they love the show. It's great to get that kind of feedback.
You were doing a TV show - you don't realise that you're also making social commentary at the same time.
Why would I care what other people are thinking? I don't care what an audience thinks of me.
I have a huge span of fans, some who know all my radio songs and are familiar with my popular stuff and then some who have their own personal favorites. When I do my show, I try to take into consideration all those people.
I do think that people get really emotionally involved in the TV shows that they love and I think that is fantastic. Of course they are going to have opinions. The other thing is that people project onto their television shows. They see a character and layer on many traits that are actually their own or their idea of what that character is.
The experience of being on a show that is very much in the center of popular culture is exciting. You really feel like you're reaching people.
The public's perception of your show is what it is, and you don't get to complain how people perceive your show or talk about it.
People tend to think they know you when you come into their televisions every week. They think you are different than who you are. Don't believe everything you hear.
