I want to keep Flume kind of experimental, weird, melodic, pretty.
Sentiment: POSITIVE
I don't think I can name any names or anything, but this is what I've wanted to do for a long time: to have Flume as my creative outlet and to work on the biggest songs in the world, like pop, and come up with the idea and send it off.
I'm not a fan of that sort of punky, heavy, tinny stuff. I like a nice melody.
I don't like to make fluffy little songs, but now I want to make some light songs.
I write for myself; I'm trying to keep myself interested in the music. But at the same time, I want to make the songs relatable in a way; I want to keep melodies pretty simple and the lyrics open-ended so that people could maybe relate them to their own life in different ways. Something for everybody to have a piece of.
Even though there is randomness and improvisation in my music, I want to have some concrete idea that I can hold onto.
Most of those melodies are me trying to find out what notes fit, and then hitting ones that don't fit in a very interesting way.
I just wanted to make melodies. I started trying to do my own thing and let the melodies make the genre themselves.
Once I'm in a situation where I can not do anything for three years and go off the map, I'll focus more on writing. Right now, I want to just make Flume awesome... and big.
What So Not used to be a lot more dance-y, and now it's becoming a lot more melodic. Flume has always had that melodic thing, but it's starting to become a bit heavier, so it's just difficult to navigate between the two.
I only want to give a metaphysic for my music.
