There are a lot of movies made for nobody.

The idea for any film is always going to be surprising or unusual.

And it's not only films, I'm pretty unaware of anything that's going on in popular culture right now.

The thing is, you never know with any movie how it's going to turn out. It's always a mystery - you'll do pages and pages of scenes that will never make it onto the screen.

I know what I miss as a cinemagoer is that balance of films that actually scare me; they're so few and far between.

The freshest moments in my films have always been with unknown actors.

Every great film should seem new every time you see it.

The key thing is that you start every film from sort of a blank page, almost like you discover it like a child discovers a new world.
