In terms of language, yeah we get bleeped and blurred and things, but in terms of content, I would probably say we're getting away with more here than we could get away with in Britain. And that surprised us so much!
Sentiment: POSITIVE
The English press, are so nosy, and the English seem to love that eavesdropping.
Britain is undoubtedly becoming more cultural. No question of it. People who say it is dumbing down simply don't look around enough. They don't know enough.
Americans don't care what your language is, your race is, whatever. Everyone is there to do their own thing and be successful. I wish people in Britain would be more positive.
In Britain you're more used to challenging drama. In America, TV is just boring, and numbing, and bloody terrible.
Americans who have travelled and who have English friends know we are not necessarily all baddies, but I think that seeing us being so incessantly nasty on screen has a drip, drip, drip effect on the rest of them.
We had everything from the BBC on our TV, so British drama seems very close to home.
The BBC fulfils a wonderful cultural function. Maybe the problem is that it feels it needs to be everything to everybody.
I've gotten more flack from the remake nature of our 'Being Human' from American audiences than I have from British fans. Every fan of the BBC original that I've bumped into seemed very excited and interested in seeing what we did with it - at least to my face!
Britain's a funny place and there's a lot of funny people coming out of there and a lot of people are finding mediums to express themselves.
We've had American TV shows in Britain for years and that hasn't affected our culture at all.
