I wanted to be a world champion.

I made my debut on October 10, 2008, so it'll be seven years to the day that I could become world champion. That's a massive night to be crowned.

My career progressed slowly. Real slow at a time. The irony of it was I had the best part of my career between when I was 45 and 49 years old. That's when most people are in their twilight, waiting to get to the Champions Tour. And that's when I made most of my hay.

I won 21 titles in seven years: three titles per year playing in this way. I'm sorry, guys. I'm not going to change.

Growing up, I always dreamed of winning a major championship.

I was an amateur wrestler, which I loved. It was my passion, but I started really late; I was a junior in high school when I began.

Who would have ever thought that, within a couple months of getting into the WWE, that I'd be wrestling in the main event for the world championship? Then, nine months after getting here, actually being the world champion.

I realized my dream and was proud to be a Superstar. I never won a title, but being hired by WWE and being a Superstar, to me, was like winning a championship.

To have six years of professional football under my belt already is really something.
