What he stood for formed the core of who I wanted to be as I grew up, and informed how I view the world and my responsibilities to other people.

All of us want to be Superman when we grow up, fighting for truth and justice. That's part of what drives me as a writer.

Superman is such an old character. He's an old character with this huge legacy behind him. And one of the awesome things about the fact that he's been around for these decades is that he's gone through these different phases.

'Superman' was a total accident. The producers of the animated series were having a hard time finding someone to read the character. I was brought in through a connection and, I think, out of desperation.

The thing that's been exciting about 'Superman' is to see how the character has developed through generations.

What makes Superman a hero is not that he has power, but that he has the wisdom and the maturity to use the power wisely. From an acting point of view, that's how I approached the part.
