Ten years ago, in 94, we thought maybe nobody would ever care about Styx again.

To me, there's two kinds of music these days. There's ephemeral music, and there's music that has lasting power and depth.

So, maybe you don't see blues so much in Styx's music but it is definitely part of Tommy's early music.

But there are rock and roll fans all over this continent and all over the globe, really, and we're just set at marking the planet with Styx music until the day we die.

And I said - Styx - as a musical group it is our place to reflect the light that is shining on us back onto this place and say - this is where so much great stuff started.

It really is, to see that this kind of music is still so popular.

People that love this form of music have loved it from way back - Sabbath, Zeppelin, the early days.

I don't really see huge barriers between any styles of music.

I think there is some truth to the fact that yeah, okay, cool, obviously the more mainstream kind of easier-to-grasp-onto dance music has become popular, but that holds true with almost any genre. It wasn't like the Sex Pistols hit the radio. It was poppier versions of that is what hit. It's never, like, the true core stuff.
