Writing a teen character is something I wanted to try again for a long time!

I like writing about the issues we all bump up against as we get older, but I try to present them in a fun way.

In 'George Lopez', I played Veronica who's a bratty 18-year-old, and so I feel like it's much easier for me to play that because I feel like a late bloomer. It wasn't difficult or challenging at all because it's not like I haven't been a teenager.

The type of stories I write are about young people grappling with the biggest problems in their lives, often problems that are bigger than they're actually capable of solving.

It was so much fun playing simple American bluegrass. I got to meet Doc Watson.

I'm always writing or playing because that is my life.

I've played so many moms, best friends, sisters and understanding people.

I have made a career of creating characters who fight school authority and chomp at the bit to get out into the 'real' world and live their lives, mostly because that's the kind of teenager I was.

I adore this adventure, I adore working with youth. For me it's a daily challenge, working to help these youths realize their dreams.
