I was doing television and films for a good five years, and then I booked 'Cry-Baby.'

On the day of the audition for 'Sullivan and Son,' I had three other auditions all around Los Angeles. It was so hectic. I remember changing in my car before I went in to read.

I couldn't do 'The Ed Sullivan Show.' Ed said I was a flash in the pan, and he was right.

We finally got our big break when Ed Sullivan put us on his show.

I got booed off the stage one time. This was in a University in Florida. The students didn't know that I had to come back out 6 more times, because I was hosting the show. They just thought that I was a comedian opening the show.

I fell off stage and bruised some ribs. The worst part was that the audience didn't realize I was gone.

First time I walked out on the Opry stage, Vince Gill was there. He kind of 'daddied' me through the whole thing. My knees were knocking. I walked out there, and I was literally shaking. They say it's the spirits or the ghosts. And out of respect for that whole establishment, I was really really nervous.

I was interviewed for a Grammy television show, and they asked me about Nashville, and I talked for three minutes and when I finished, I was teared up. The whole room was crying. Nashville has given me a home, where I never had a home before.
