Political and social change is always a stagger-step process.

You've got to vote, vote, vote, vote. That's it; that's the way we move forward. That's how we make progress for ourselves and for our country.

Social movements are at once the symptoms and the instruments of progress. Ignore them and statesmanship is irrelevant; fail to use them and it is weak.

Social change comes through people.

Where there is a sufficient social movement of self-reliant communities, there can be political change. There must be political change.

What I'm asking for is hard. It's easier to be cynical; to accept that change isn't possible, and politics is hopeless, and to believe that our voices and actions don't matter. But if we give up now, then we forsake a better future.

Politics is repetition. It is not change. Change is something beyond what we call politics. Change is the essence politics is supposed to be the means to bring into being.

The mythology is that political change happens only in election years. The truth is you build from election to election.

You have to believe that it's through politics that societies can lead social and economic and political change.

Change can either challenge or threaten us. Your beliefs pave your way to success or block you.
