I am being frank about myself in this book. I tell of my first mistake on page 850.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
Thank heaven, though, one of the few mistakes I haven't made is to talk about the unwritten book.
I think you get so wrapped up in the book you're currently writing, it's hard to think about anything else. But I know as soon as I'm done with this book, I'll move on to something else.
It's not a case of: 'Read this book and then you'll think differently. I've written this book, and I don't think differently.
Writers have to be careful not to confuse personal attention with the attention that's going towards the book.
Be sure that you go to the author to get at his meaning, not to find yours.
You will, I am sure, agree with me that... if page 534 only finds us in the second chapter, the length of the first one must have been really intolerable.
The novel, for me, was an accident. I really don't consider myself a novelist.
I wrote the book because I wanted to be able to share some things that I had learned and as pompous as that may sound, as you get to a certain point in life, you figure so what am I doing?
I have disassociated myself from that book.
Whoever you are, you will not write this book. I can tell you nothing. Do not call me again. Ever.
