A poor choice of words conveyed to some the impression that I embrace the discarded policies of the past. Nothing could be further from the truth, and I apologize to anyone who was offended by my statement.

The '90s were a time of building for me. Building a life that was sober, drained of harmful, wasteful excess and manufacturing in its place a family of my own.

I was a child of the '80s.

I don't live in the past.

I was too young to ever have fun in the '90s, so I'm always trying to relive what I wasn't a part of.

I felt that, in retrospect, there was a time in the late Seventies, after I had a string of hits and successes, as a performer and a recording artist, that I wasn't saying anything.

Don't talk about what you have done or what you are going to do.
