High school is very intense for everyone. But at a boarding school, because you're there 24 hours a day, everything gets magnified.

Mainly as sort of blueprints for dealing with most of the adults in their lives, to some extent with their fellows. It is this notion of aiming high and there's always hope, aim low and you might as well stop now.

It's also a more personal medium. It seems to go directly to one's brain. There are no pictures to distract.

No education can be of true advantage to young women but that which trains them up in humble industry, in great plainness of living, in exact modesty of dress.

It also allows you to look as though you're not particularly from the present, future or past, either.

The thing is that anybody looks good in the right clothes. It will affect your bearing. It will affect your demeanor. It informs the way you behave.

For the most part, it's about keeping the same people around you - people who really care about your well-being - they keep you focused.
