I've been in Congress 14 years. I've been on the Appropriations Committee in which we are in charge of trying to move legislation.

Part of my job is to advocate on my constituents' behalf to federal agencies who aren't always responsive.

The local communities, through their leaders, were able to build a communications network that allowed my work here to reflect the needs and interests of the people within the 9th Congressional District. It's been an honor to do that and we did so successfully.

I'm doing my part, building plants at a record rate, having historic conservation levels. The only people not doing their part is the federal government that is siding with the energy companies against the interests of the people of California.

I will vote adamantly against the interests of my district if I actually think what I am doing is going to be helpful.
