My first score for 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy, 'The Fellowship of the Ring,' was the beginning of my journey into the world of Tolkien, and I will always hold a special fondness for the music and the experience.

In the music world, concerts unfold strictly according to plan. But, as I'd been finding out, in the book world, things keep changing by the second.

Concert repertoire is some of the most beautiful music ever written, and I frequently seek out opportunities to perform it.

When you see 'Lord of the Rings,' you want to feel like you've been dropped into it and that you're part of it. You don't want to be aware of how it's being done; you just want it to feel really seamless.

Because of the wealth of fine music spread through the film, working on it held all the fun and excitement of attending a great concert.

Through the music I hope to give it an arc that gives it a greater sense of a journey through the set rather than a bunch of songs.

Music is like a really sacred, awesome thing. That first 45 minutes to two hours that you're on stage spending time with music every night is always really great.

I happen to be a huge 'Lord of the Rings' fan. I do an annual marathon of the extended editions.

World music is about taking things from different places and bringing them together - which is great.

The best part of touring, still, is touching people's hearts and igniting my band and igniting the people into what you call a spiritual revelation is sound and emotion.
