When it comes to knowing what to say, to charm, I always had it.

There are charms made only for distant admiration.

Every time I write a song I feel really lucky and kind of surprised. Not surprised that I wrote it, but just surprised that things exist that you don't know about.

But I knew - in the old days, if a song was a good song, I don't care if it was 'Yellow Submarine' or, you know, or 'The Times They Are a-Changin' or 'Don't Be Cruel', you knew it, you know? You heard that song, and you were talking about it, and you knew it.

Words are illusions.

Words to me were magic. You could say a word and it could conjure up all kinds of images or feelings or a chilly sensation or whatever. It was amazing to me that words had this power.

I realized little by little that words are very powerful, and taking those words to encourage people rather than tear them apart was the desire of my heart.

Every song has a bouquet, which is the music. If you can put words with something that is really apt, then you've done it.

Charm is a product of the unexpected.
