I have one custom guitar which I play almost exclusively. I have others - sometimes you want a little texture, kind of a different sound or something.
Sentiment: POSITIVE
You can muck around with different guitars for certain bits, but you have to have your own sound. That's your benchmark, that's your sound. I also play a Black Beauty. It sounds amazing.
I use Gibson guitars; I prefer the Les Paul custom.
My guitar is a mutation between a classic Fender Stratocaster guitar, which I played for years, and a Gibson solid-body like an SG or a Les Paul. It contains all sounds of the basic classic rock n' roll guitars. It does what I want it to do.
To be honest, I'm one of the least-technical guitar players around. I just want a guitar to feel good and sound good. That's it, period.
Still others want a traditional guitar sound if they call you for guitar.
My guitar playing is a synthesis of traditional American acoustic style and Urban Pop and R&B.
Experimenting with different sounds is great, but when it comes down to it, you're still playing a guitar.
I'm not too picky about guitars. I love to collect them, mostly oddballs, but I'm not married to any brand or model. Whatever guitar has the best character for the song is the one I want to use, because if you've got a style, you're going to sound like yourself no matter what guitar you play.
I don't play a lot of fancy guitar. I don't want to play it. The kind of guitar I want to play is mean, mean licks.
Every guitar I own gets used and has its purpose.
