I write music just for me. I'm certainly not good enough to do it on any kind of a level but I enjoy that time because it's quiet.

I listen to music constantly while writing.

On an average day, I spend 12 hours listening to music. Very little writing.

So, once I get writing I really try and put five to eight hours a day in my room with a guitar to really try and come up with stuff that feels interesting enough to me to keep it.

I would imagine that most of my writing is done spontaneously. I had no intention of writing, and then I'll just walk through the house, and I'll hear this melody, and I'll turn on the tape players and go back to it later on. Some days I'll get 3-5 songs a day.

It's hard to write music for specific things, because I'm always writing just to write.

I write my music.

I always write with music. It takes me a while to figure out the right piece of music for what I'm working on. Once I figure it out, that's the only thing I'll play.

But I never listen to music while I'm writing.
