If Shakespeare had to go on an author tour to promote Romeo and Juliet, he never would have written Macbeth.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
I've never been that keen on Shakespeare.
Shakespeare would never have gone far in today's politically correct world.
Macbeth was the first play I ever read.
For me, if Shakespeare was around today, he'd be writing screenplays - a big Hollywood movie.
And you know, I hate to admit this, but I don't always think in terms of Shakespeare. When I eat, I do. When I'm at a restaurant, I'll think, 'Hmm, what would Macbeth have ordered?'
Reading the play at home, however fulfilling, can never be the vivacious experience that Shakespeare intended.
I never wanted to be a writer.
I had always wanted to retell a Shakespeare play. It was an ambition from college days. But in order to be able to do it... the circumstances in my life didn't come together for a long time.
In speaking, for convenience, of devices and expedients, I did not intend to imply that Shakespeare always deliberately aimed at the effects which he produced.
I never wanted to be a playwright.
