Art is all a matter of personality.

Every art expression is rooted fundamentally in the personality and temperament of the artist.

One thing that makes art different from life is that in art things have a shape... it allows us to fix our emotions on events at the moment they occur, it permits a union of heart and mind and tongue and tear.

In the world of reality the more beautiful a work of art, the longer, we may be sure, was the time required to make it, and the greater the number of different minds which assisted in its development.

What strikes me is the fact that in our society, art has become something which is only related to objects, and not to individuals, or to life.

We are concerned with the relationship between art and life. Contemporary art is only intelligible in terms of its relationship to our life.

Personality is everything in art and poetry.

In addition to giving comfort and joy, art also has the miraculous ability to let us live in other men's skins, to test our perceptions and beliefs against theirs, and perhaps to be changed as a result. It does this by portraying the world creatively, heightening our perception and enriching our understanding of things as they are.

The understanding of art depends finally upon one's willingness to extend one's humanity and one's knowledge of human life.

I feel like, to me, art is a ladder to God, in my own opinion, you know. And so, for me, the more people that I can reach through many different artistic avenues, the better.
