I view life as a learning experience. It is not so much all about music; it is about what happens when you are doing the music.

I think music is what takes the experience off the screen into your soul, into your head.

I've always connected with music. Life's not always what you see; it's what going on in your head. Music is what comes out of your subconscious.

Whatever I'm feeling, whatever I'm going through, whatever mood I'm in... If I'm feeling like dancing or clubbing, then it will be reflected in the music. If I'm feeling dark and vulnerable, then it will reflect in the music, too.

It's wonderful when music is intellectually stimulating. But ultimately it has to be a visceral experience.

For me, the backdrop of half the experiences of life includes music.

Music is a very big participant in everything I do, from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to bed.

Why be in music, why write songs, if you can't use them to explore life or an idealized vision of life? I believe a lot of our lives are spent asleep, and what I've been trying to do is hold on to those moments when a little spark cuts through the fog and nudges you.

Music is my life, it is a reflection of what I go through.

From my perspective, music allows me to escape from the world of what is happening right in front of me... to the world of my thoughts, my dreams, my hopes and ideas - for the world, for my own life, for the day, even for the moment.
