Government proposes, bureaucracy disposes. And the bureaucracy must dispose of government proposals by dumping them on us.

By finding waste and abuse in entitlement programs, and eliminating it, we can ensure that the funds that are put into these programs go to the people that need them the most.

We're facing a natural disaster in the middle of an economic disaster. The federal government has to balance its budget the way our families do.

Putting together a sustainable budget requires that we all work together, that we focus our scarce resources on key priorities, and that we strengthen our capacity to deliver the best product we can for the American people. And that takes money.

Not everything needs to be recycled.

Years ago, we all talked about recycling and not dumping things down your drain and all of that, but talking doesn't help much. Basically, it's going to have to be legislation because the impact is so huge and diversified.

Our priority must be to build a path towards balancing the budget, and we cannot tolerate growing deficits.

We've got to take some drastic steps in this country. We can't keep spending and spending.
