There are always certain things that you tap into, your own personal experiences, and I try to base my characters on someone I know or someone I've seen.

When I get the possibility of using a character like Bruce Wayne or Dick Grayson, I try and think about what's most exciting or interesting about them as a person, so I try and think what they are at their core, or what piece of their psychology do I gravitate toward that I respect, and I'm excited by it when I read books about them.

I try to talk about things I know about. But my characters are more of a combination of people or how I imagine people would feel.

I suppose with any character that you play you always bring your personal experience to it. You always bring people that you know or that you've met and sort of - this is what I do, I mean, I don't know what anyone else does - but people that you know or that you've met that have affected you in certain ways, you bring into it.

I just use my life story as a kind of device on which to hang comic observations. It's not my interest or instinct to tell the world anything pertinent about myself or my family.

I think I am a pretty good judge of character in general and try to surround myself with the best people I can.

I try mainly to just focus on character and what my character's point of view is, with each person, and try to figure out story.

Rather like Batman, I embody the themes of the movie which are the values of family, courage and compassion and a sense of right and wrong, good and bad and justice.

I think it's important I stay connected to every part of my personality. I play basketball. I rock climb. I paint. I'm a little bit scattered, but it's so I can convincingly play all these characters.

I was always a big Justice League fan. I always loved Batman, Superman - I have a weird Martian Manhunter fixation.
