I like L.A., but I think what's changed is that the kinds of films I do, the mid-range dramatic film, has become an endangered species.

Up until doing this movie, I hadn't really paid a huge amount of attention to those genres, but after finishing this movie, it really gave me a different sense of appreciation of the way the movies play out.

The Hollywood movies are more like novels, and the kinds of films I make are more like poems.
