I want to serve my country, but not necessarily in the political arena.

It has been a privilege beyond belief for me to have represented the State of Louisiana in Congress and to have been given the blessed assignment of U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See.

And the issues I think are important in Louisiana right now happen to be health care and education. And those are two areas that the federal government can play a very important role. And I think I can be effective in trying to help our state from the Washington scene.

I very, very much want to be involved in helping those senators, congressmen, and women who support the principles that made America great.

I want to be a positive influence. I want to be someone who they want to call in and want here consistently, regardless of my role.

I'd love to serve my country. I would love it.

I appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve the people of our state.

Louisiana wants a leader that will take their values to D.C. and will fight for them without wavering.
