People want things with meaning. I know that because I want that.

Intellects whose desires have outstripped their understanding.

Everybody wants to identify things about a poet or about a playwright. They want to codify something or put it in terms that can be understood. We want to understand something, because that's how our minds work. We like to understand things, and it's discomfiting if we don't understand things.

There's almost a fear that if you understood too deeply the way you arrived at choices, you could become self-conscious. In any case, many ideas which are full of personal meaning seem rather banal when you put words to them.

It's human desire to be understood. And we always feel we're not understood.

There are readers who want every point to be clearly and unambiguously set forth, and there are those who want to pry ideas and meanings out for themselves.

All people have a natural desire to be needed, to have their importance to others tangibly confirmed.

I hate people who over intellectualize. It bores me deeply.

As humans with egos and feelings, none of us wants to be pilloried. But as thinkers and writers, it's our job to express opinions forthrightly and without qualifying them out of existence.

I understand people have preconceived notions of who I am or what I do.
