I had all the material for a long time, but I was just too busy. Sometimes we'd sit around at home and sing some of these songs at family things, and everyone always said I should record them.

When I started working on my own music, I didn't have the chance to record in a big music studio, so I had to record everything myself.
There's plenty for me to do. There are more albums. I'll record as long as I can and as long as my voice works as well as it does now and for as long as people want to hear me.

A lot of times, that's hard to capture: what you sound like in person versus what you sound like on record. I had 25 or 30 songs. Sequencing the record, I left that to the producer. I'm not into doing that stuff.
When I make records, I never listen to stuff after it's done. Ever.
I began the process of recording myself seriously in the fall of 1999. If I could finish an album of my own music, I would. Five years later I am happy to say I have.
