I really love fan art, which I get sent a lot of. I really, really get a lot of. I get a kick out of it.
Sentiment: POSITIVE
I mean I appreciate fan mail and that the people like what I am doing but I can't answer it. If I would answer 25 letters a day I would be just a guy answering mail and not an artist anymore.
I get an awful lot of fan mail, and I read all that I can.
Yes, I receive fan mail. One of my favorite things to do is sit down and read the letters people write. It's really amazing the time people take to write these letters, tell their stories, draw pictures, etc.
I've had fans do some pretty awesome things... I once had a fan do a mock proposal for me in Mumbai, inside a McDonalds... and I've had fans give me some precious things. I had one fan give me her mother's ring; I've gotten some pretty intense stuff. And I always get drawings and scrapbooks from fans, which is also pretty cool.
I love that fans feel comfortable enough to send us their artwork.
It's an honor to have people follow you and watch you. I do get a lot of fan mail and I read everything. It's very flattering and sort of surreal. I'm very glad that people like what I do and they want to follow what's going on.
I think the moment you start trying to please a fan base is when you start going downhill. I'm going to always, always write about what I want, even if it doesn't necessarily cater to most of them.
My fan mail is what keeps me going.
More than anything, I think the best thing you can do as an artist is just stay as true to yourself as possible and hope that your fan base will appreciate that.
I guess some fans like art and get it, others are just into the music, don't really turn up and have an opinion. The fans that have shown interest are all with me all the way.
