I'd say most of my songs I write from personal experience. When I feel like I don't have any inspiration in my personal life, I think about others that are close to me and maybe what they're going through or even just people I've come across, acquaintances.

When I'm writing, I'm constantly thinking about myself, because it's the only experience I have to draw on. And I don't see an exact reflection of myself in every face in the audience, but I know that my songs have validity to them, and that's why the fans are there.

I find inspiration and rhythm in everything. Really I do. And I find inspiration in the really quiet moments.

As far as songwriting, my inspirations came from love, life and death, and viewing other people's situations.

I find inspiration in many places. Sometimes music gives me the kernel of a story. Sometimes it's dissatisfaction with the plot of a movie or a book that gets me thinking. Sometimes it's love of a movie or book.

The way I write my songs is that I have to believe what I'm writing about, and that's why they always end up being so personal - because the kind of artists I like, they convince me, they totally win me over straight away in that thing. Like, 'Oh my God, this song is totally about me.'

For me, I write some songs that are really important to me, and I've got some feedback where some of them help folks and inspire people.

With my music, I can express myself so much. A lot of the fans can sense that I'm relating to them something that's quite personal.

My music is inspired by my life: the people in my life, the people I have relationships with, the people I love, the people that make me feel something.

When I'm writing a record, I kind of don't listen to much music. Just because I want to be inspired solely on the emotion; just based on how it feels.
