I love Radiohead, which most people don't expect, and I listen to everything from Stevie Wonder to Steely Dan, Carole King, The Beach Boys, The Kinks, Beyonce Knowles, Vampire Weekend, The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Burt Bacharach, and Paul Simon.

I mean that'd be great if we could continue to be staples of alt-rock radio. I don't take that for granted.

Once you get everything out of your head about what everybody else is going to think, will radio play it - and I hope they do, I really do - once you shed all of that and just be who you are, that's who I am. That's taken a lot of growing up. I've come into myself musically and as a woman, and I hope to keep growing. If you don't grow, you die.

I feel like my best music is still ahead of me, and I can't wait for everyone to hear it.

I think we're going to have to forget about the radio and just go back to word of mouth.
