Growing up, my parents treated my brother and me with absolute equality.

My parents came from different backgrounds. My father's was grander than my mother's, so my mother had... to put up with the disapproval of my father's relations.

My brothers always like to believe that my father pampered me and I am spoilt. While it is not true, they felt that way. As for my dad, I could not do anything wrong. So, if I did something wrong, I would put the blame on them, and he would shout at them.

What distinguished my life from my brother's is that my mother didn't like me. When I became a woman, I seemed to repel her.

I liked the fact that my father had a lot of expectations from my brother. I probably wanted to be that person who he could be proud of.

My father really was not the dominant person who raised the family, it was my mother who raised the family.

My father was a huge influence on me.

And not only my own brothers and sisters agreed so but my brothers and sisters in law; and their children, although but young, had the like agreeable natures and affectionate dispositions.

My father was strict and always taught me, no matter who it is, everybody is an uncle. To me, everybody was someone I respect like family. I grew up with that.
