I was the epitome of rags to riches.

Riches have never fascinated me, unless combined with the greatest charm or distinction.

Fortunately, now I've got myself in a position where things are about story and not money. In my earlier career, it was more about getting my foot in the door and to get enough money to live, to be perfectly honest.

I am extremely proud of my rags-to-riches story. It's fun to be a misfit or an underdog if you acknowledge your gifts and befriend your obstacles.

I was obsessed with being rich and famous.

Although I grew up in very modest and challenging circumstances, I consider my life to be immeasurably rich.

I know my life story sounds too extraordinary to be true.

A lot of people around me were really staggeringly rich, which I never have been. I walked in between the raindrops of real money, but I've stayed happy.

One has to look at my life story to see what I've done. I've paid a heavy price that many people don't realize.
