I've experienced a lot for someone my age that a lot of people will be able to relate to.
Sentiment: POSITIVE
I feel I can really relate to a lot of young people.
For me, there are two types of people: the young and the experienced.
A lot of people struggle in their younger years, and I think people can relate to that.
I sometimes feel like it's difficult for people to relate to me, until they spend, like, a day with me, and until they walk around with me in public.
I've watched my peers get better with age and hoped that would happen with me.
The thing is, I really can't relate to anyone my own age. Not in a superior way - an inferior way, if anything. Socially, I have no idea what my friends are talking about. I don't listen to any new music. I feel very secluded.
Its not age as much as the experiences I have had.
When I was 16, 17, 18 years old, I felt like I had seen it all and done it all, and I was really kind of negative about everything.
I've been accused of being old before my time more than once. It's true that I've always felt an affinity for, and been comfortable around, older people. I attribute this to a childhood spent around my grandparents - and even a great-grandparent or two. I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything.
So something about that touched me, obviously, when I was young and it just stayed with me. I'm always amazed by that, because my experience seems to be so much different than what I'm told, so much of the time.
