I raised my kids kind of old-fashioned - if you don't have something nice to say, then don't say it at all. I teach love, acceptance, and tolerance... I sometimes think that this generation is lacking in decency.

I don't wait for people to give me respect. I always give them respect.

It is still a surprise when people tell me that I've had an influence on them, particularly when it's someone I really respect.

I respect all the teenagers I work with and feel that everything they have to say is just as valuable as anything I have to say.
