I don't think we spend enough time in reflection and introspection. We don't know who we are as individuals in this culture anymore.

A writer needs a life of introspection.

So if we have anything original to offer, it's to speak from our own life about the society we're in.

Introspection, or 'sitting in the silence,' is an unscientific way of trying to force apart the mind and senses, tied together by the life force. The contemplative mind, attempting its return to divinity, is constantly dragged back toward the senses by the life currents.

Society just has a way of inhibiting you, which is good and bad.

How utterly are one's best thoughts invaded by this going out in society.

And today more than ever, knowing about that society involves first of all choosing what approach the inquiry will take, and that necessarily means choosing how society can answer.

I am not very introspective.

We grow up, and we need to confront a society to be fit in.
