When you're making a television show, it's about the story and arc of the show rather than any particular episode or director.

I do think that people get really emotionally involved in the TV shows that they love and I think that is fantastic. Of course they are going to have opinions. The other thing is that people project onto their television shows. They see a character and layer on many traits that are actually their own or their idea of what that character is.

When I do watch shows, or projects that I've been a part of, I'm pretty good at watching them objectively. And that's mostly because I want to see how it came out overall, what the overall story was and how it came together visually, what my mates were doing.

Part of the success of the show is that the audience sees themselves in the characters, becomes the characters. The more they inhabit the characters, the more they see.

I think that complicated, nuanced, deep, heavy - that's the place to go. That's what makes a great show. That's what all of us deal with in life.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I think viewers are hungry for shows in which people say something meaningful.

My opinion can be completely different after a show.

We're developing things, but I don't know what we'll go with for the show, so I don't like to talk about it.

Entertainment shows make a living on behind-the-scenes stuff that can now be doled out socially. When we see it, we're like, 'Uh oh.'
