I get emotionally attached with every film I do, and that stops me from being critical. I can't fight my emotions.

I guess I watch movies to make myself happier a lot.

There's something about a roller coaster that triggers strong feelings, maybe because most of us associate them with childhood. They're inherently cinematic; the very shape of a coaster, all hills and valleys and sickening helices, evokes a human emotional response.

Often, when you're on a movie set, you're miserable. It's cold. You're hungry. You're tired. It's still dark out. And yet, there's no place I'd rather be. It's the happiest I am, and the most calm.

As an actress, emotions are my business, my stock-in-trade. As such, I've dealt with them nearly all my life.

That's kind of how I am - a roller coaster of emotions.

If you have a movie that doesn't strive to go to a certain emotional point, you can do anything and it will be fine and funny. But if you have something pretty emotional at its core, you have to make it right. You don't want it overwrought or unearned. Everything has to be moving towards this one thing.

I'm purely most happy on a film or television set. That's where I feel I am home.

My passion is doing movies, so as long as I keep doing that I will be happy.

I'm trying to figure myself out through my movies. Whether it's big stuff like what we're doing here, or little stuff like, 'Why aren't I happier?' With every film I feel like I'm apologising for something. I feel I'm most successful when I'm looking for something that embarrasses me about my character that I'd like to expose.
