I play a huge variety of roles.

All I will say is that I'm playing a lot of different roles that, to be honest, are more interesting and demanding than any I've played before.

Every role you do is kind of a side of yourself. That's why they give you the part.

My goal is to just keep playing roles that are different from the roles I've played before.

I like to do new things, so I always take on roles that I feel will keep me on my toes. I never want to pigeon myself, so I always like to surprise myself. I believe in versatility and so I would play anything as long as it was a challenge.

I approach every role from scratch.

Every role affords me something different in the way of understanding, and that's really why you take these roles, not to show that thing that people talk about of showing what you can do - that has nothing to do with anything.

I think every role you get is going to be a powerful one. As long as you go in with the mindset of, 'Yeah, I'm going to make the most of this.' So that's the kind of attitude I take into each role that I play.

I look for a role that hopefully I feel empathy with and that I can understand and love, but also that has that challenge for me to play - a different kind of role, a different type of character, a different time period.
