I don't like to make a big splash anyway.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
I am selective. If I do splash out, it's an investment, and I wear things for years.
The pressure to compete, the fear somebody else will make the splash first, creates a frenzied environment in which a blizzard of information is presented and serious questions may not be raised.
During an open water swim, it's easy to lose your direction. With all the splash, it can be quite hard to see the next buoy, so I look behind it for something bigger, like a tree or a building, and aim for that instead.
You have to be prepared to take a spill.
If you're really on top, you probably didn't do that great, 'cause you have to water it down a bit for it to get that mass appeal.
I'm not a water guy.
I seem to be able to just sort of sink and slide under the radar, which is nice.
You have to prepare yourself physically as much as possible for a bad wipeout.
Water's never clumsy.
I like to try to hit all of my dives.
