I love being Canadian. I think growing up in Canada gives you a world perspective that I certainly enjoy.

Canada has been phenomenal to myself, my brother, my sister, their kids, my parents. They came there. They worked very hard. They came with a great education, very good heads on their shoulders with the simple thought of going there with almost nothing and just saying, 'We're doing this to give our kids the best opportunity possible.'

For 20 years I've had the privilege of representing Canada around the globe... first on the bike and then on my blades. The experiences have shaped me into who I am today.

I'm a good Canadian girl. I miss all that good stuff. I miss tobogganing and I miss snowboarding, but I've also learned to surf and I've become a water baby which I used to be relatively terrified of the water and I kayak all the time now and I'm able to run year round on the beach which you can't obviously do in Canada.

I'm a very, very proud Canadian, and having the privilege to represent my country on the international level was the highlight of my 18-year career.

The opportunity to go up to Canada and play was just a blessing for me and my family.

I'm so proud to be Canadian. I've been to 58 countries, and they're wonderful countries, but Canada is the best.

I've learned what it truly means to be Canadian and in turn I've been inspired to make a difference in the world, however small it's been.

I think as a Canadian hockey player, you go through it in your mind so many times, being able to stand on that blue line and hear your national anthem play and being a gold medal champion, you dream of that. And then to be able to accomplish that and actually win a gold medal and represent your country its an amazing feeling.

I loved growing up in Canada. It's a great place to grow up because - well, at least where I grew up - it's very multicultural. There's also good health care and a good education system.
